Abstract

The main goal of every civilized nation is to accomplish a fearless society because it is the only and only fearless society upon which nation's advancement depends. Thus witness is critical in criminal trials and helps the court to administer justice. As a result, witness is unavoidable. A vital role is played by the witnesses in bringing the offender to justice. A witness has the status of a friend and a supporter of the Court. It is entirely justified because the decision is extensively reliant on his testimony and actions in the Indian court system. The witness can affect the path of the whole inquiry. As a result, the witness should be given the maximum dignity. The purpose of writing this article is to investigate the role a witness in a criminal trial, justifications for turning hostile, and importance of in criminal trials in India, finally rationalizing the call for a suitable legal framework to provide required security to witnesses.
