Social Behaviour of Adolescents in Relation to Family Environment

Abstract

The main objective of the present study is to find out the relationship between
Social Behaviour and Family Environment of adolescents. To achieve this
objective, Social Preference and Social Behaviour Inventory (1999)by Joshi and
Panda and Family Environment Scale (1993) by Bhatia and Chadha have been
used. The sample consisted of 200 Private Secondary School students selected
randomly from Moga District of Punjab, India. The sample was equally
categorized between Boys-Girls, Rural-Urban and SC-General category
students. Statistical techniques viz. - Mean, Standard Deviation, Standard Error
of Means, t-test and Coefficient of Correlation (r) have been used to analyze the
data. The results revealed that there exists significant relationship between
Social Behaviour and Family Environment of adolescents. It means that Family
Environment affects the Social Behabiour of the adolescents. If the Family
Environment of the adolescents will better their Social Behaviour will also be
better and vice-versa
