Keywords:Gender, Career, Career maturity
This study investigated gender differences in career maturity of academic
stream students at senior secondary school level. Samples were drawn from
three senior secondary schools. Career maturity inventory by Gupta (1989) was
administered to the respondents. Data were analyzed using t-ratios. The main
findings revealed that male and female secondary school students in the
present sample did not differ significantly in their career choice attitudes and
career competencies except in case of problem solving, where girls had an
edge over their counterparts. The counselling implications of this study were
discussed and recommendations were made in line with the findings.
